Background
I have been an independent strategy consultant since 1991.  I began my practice after working with Exxon for eleven years in corporate planning and financial analysis.  I have focused my practice on design firms.  Growing up in this industry and working with engineering and architectural companies for seventeen years has provided me an opportunity to explore what makes firms in this market space successful.  While each client has their own challenges, I find that many face similar problems. My goal is to help my clients move forward and become the greatest firm they are capable of becoming!

While I cannot guarantee the success of my work (since much of the success depends on the client's implementation), I do believe that no client should pay if they do not believe they have received value. When I first read David Maisters' book True Professionalism, I was struck by the 'guarantee' he provided to his clients. Based on this I have included the following clause in my proposals since 1999. My work is offered with an unconditional guarantee. When the work is done, if you do not believe that full value was received, then decide how much it was worth and how much to pay (if anything). All I ask is that you let me know when you have concerns about the work.

I have been very active in the non-profit community.  Most of my work involves volunteering to help organizations with strategy and governance issues. In addition, I have served on the board (past board chair) for End Hunger Network Houston, and served as Business Development Director for Crisis Intervention Houston.   I also tutor GED students on math.
